Awa Onsen | Kinokuniya Bettei
Solo Stay
A night alone, undisturbed by anyone
In an adults-only inn of just ten rooms
Kinokuniya Bettei is an adults-only inn of ten rooms, made for time spent with someone dear. That quiet can also be used for yourself alone.
Breakfast and dinner in your room, and a natural hot spring open-air bath in all ten rooms. Together these mean that from check-in to departure, a night can be complete without stepping outside or meeting anyone. A day with no one to talk to and no time to keep: enjoy it to the full.
Four pleasures of a solo stay at Bettei
A day ends without meeting anyone
With breakfast and dinner both served in your room, there is hardly an occasion to run into anyone in the building. Time with no conversation and no social effort simply continues.
The bath, whenever and as often as you like
Your private open-air bath is filled with natural hot spring water day and night. On arrival, before dinner, before bed, on waking: the tatami is only a step away from the bath.
No need to fit your mealtimes to anyone else
Dinner starts at 17:30 or 18:00, breakfast at 8:00 or 8:30, as you prefer. Meals are brought to your room; the rest is at your own pace.
The sea at dusk, a minute's walk away
Katsuyama beach, a short walk from the inn, has a seaside promenade. Step out in your yukata, watch the sun go down and come back: a walk that suits a solo stay well.
For one, a flat-type room for two
A single-floor room for two, with a separate bedroom and living room, is more than spacious enough for one.
Of course, you may also choose a room with a foot bath or a lie-down bath, or a maisonette with an upstairs terrace for the night sky.
A day on your own
Check-in
Check-in is from 15:00 to 18:00 (arrivals after 18:00 by prior arrangement). Step into the quiet of an adults-only inn.
First, a soak in your private open-air bath
Natural Awa hot spring water fills the bath day and night. You may also use the men's and women's communal baths at the adjoining main building, Kinokuniya (except when the main building is privately booked).
A stroll along Katsuyama beach in your yukata
Katsuyama beach is about a minute's walk from the inn. We recommend a walk along the seaside promenade at dusk, in your yukata.
Dinner in your room
Dinner starts at 17:30 or 18:00, as you prefer. A feast of freshly caught local fish, including a funamori sashimi platter and abalone grilled live, is brought to your room.
Back to the bath
Enjoy the natural hot spring at your leisure, at any hour of the night.
Breakfast in your room
Breakfast starts at 8:00 or 8:30, as you prefer. Breakfast, too, is served in your room.
Check-out
After an unhurried morning, check-out is at 11:00.
